Van het bestrijden van islamofobie tot het dekoloniseren van de academische wereld, van anti-fascisme tot het verdedigen van de rechten van vluchtelingen: anti-racisme is een beweging met vele gezichten. Op deze info-avond hebben we sprekers uitgenodigd uit verschillende organisaties die anti-racistisch werk doen. Na de introductie van hun projecten zullen we in gesprek gaan over hoe deze projecten elkaar raken, hoe we elkaar kunnen versterken en wat we moeten doen om te voorkomen dat we verdeeld worden.

Dit evenement is Engels gesproken. Sprekers tot nu toe:

• So introduceert het werk van We Reclaim our Pride, een intersectionele groep queers die werken tegen racisme, commercialisering en homonationalisme op LHBTQIA+ evenementen.
• Ramon van de Internationale Socialisten spreekt over de aard van fascisme.
• Denise vertelt over kunst als activisme vanuit haar perspectief als een zwarte,
• Afrikaans-Ierse, queer vrouw die rap en spoken word poetry opvoert.
• Aankondigingen van meer sprekers volgen.

Anti-Racist Info Evening

From fighting islamophobia to decolonizing academia, from resisting fascism to defending refugee rights: anti-racism is a movement that knows many forms. On this info evening we invite speakers from a wide range of organizations that do anti-racist work. Introductions of these different projects will be followed by discussions about how these projects connect, how we can strengthen each other’s work and what we must avoid to resist being divided.

This event will be in English. Speakers so far:

• So introduces us to the work of We Reclaim our Pride, an intersectional group of queers working against racism, commercialism and homonationalism at LGBTQIA+ events.
• Ramon, of the International Socialists, speaks about the nature of fascism.
• Denise speaks about art as activism from her perspective as a blac, African-Irish, queer woman performing rap and spoken word poetry.
