In this workshop Claudia will guide participants through some main tools for defence against criminalisation of solidarity actcs that is currently being practised by EU states. She will elaborate on the difference between rights and laws and the grey-zone that is often misusded by states to put people, helping refugees cross borders and claim rights, under prosecution. Based on her work in the UNHCR and as a legal activist/consultant, she will point to some key tension between European legal agreements (bilaterally with other non-EU states, as well as internally within EU) and international human rights.
